About the Event

Janice Witherspoon has been working as a professional storyteller for more than 10 years. Entertaining audiences of all ages across Scotland, England and now back in her native Co. Antrim, Janice has a wide repertoire of legends and lore of these islands. As a former gardener, Janice loves to tell seasonal and environmental tales.

At our event she will tell the story of Flaming Brigid. Through story, poetry and song, Janice will celebrate the season of Brigid, both goddess and saint, inspiring you to look forward to the spring with stories of how she laid her mantle over the earth to bless it and how every year, she melts the ice so that spring can return.

Janice leads Storytelling & Wellbeing walks in nature and regularly performs at sustainability fairs. Deeply rooted in place, Janice also works as a tour guide, bringing the history of the beautiful Glens of Antrim to life with her storytelling skills. Janice has performed at living history events for the National Trust and the Andrew Jackson Centre among others.

Having been a resident storyteller at the Findhorn Foundation Community ecovillage in Scotland for some years, she believes passionately in the power of storytelling to foster a sense of community and brings a gentle warmth to her telling.
