Supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland & National Lottery Good Causes, this piece is the result of extensive research into ancient sites, sources and music. It’s a journey through time and place and an exploration of the ancient roots of our musical and storytelling traditions.
Centuries ago, long before the arrival of the triangular harp, stories were remembered in rhyme and recited to music played on the harp’s ancient predecessor, the lyre (cruit). In later times the roles of storyteller and harper diverged, but 'fado fado' (or 'once upon a time'), the bard did BOTH jobs! Sadly, many of the skills and traditions that once helped to preserve our most important stories have been lost over the centuries.
